Who we are

North Texas Shoreline Initiative (“NTSI”) is a Texas unincorporated nonprofit association. These Terms are between you and NTSI.

Contributing a photo

You must be at least 18 years old to submit a photograph through this site. If you are under 18, please ask an adult to make any contribution instead. You confirm that you took the photograph or otherwise have the rights and permission necessary to submit it and grant NTSI the license described in these Terms. You retain any copyright you own in your photograph. By submitting it, you grant NTSI a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, reproduce, analyze, resize, crop, re-encode, redact for privacy, and publicly display and distribute approved versions of the photograph for NTSI’s nonprofit educational, scientific, environmental-monitoring, archival, and project purposes. NTSI may allow its hosting, storage, and technical service providers to process the photograph solely as needed to provide those services. No payment is offered or implied. Submissions may be rejected or removed at any time, and review can take days.

Automated checks

Automated quality checks may compare a submission with a reference view to determine whether the phone was positioned correctly and whether the photograph is usable for the monitoring record. A person reviews every image before it is published.

Removal

For 30 days after submission, a person with the receipt code may request removal as a matter of course. After that period, NTSI may decline an ordinary removal request, but it will comply with applicable law and will review copyright or ownership disputes, privacy and safety concerns, legal requests, and minor-related concerns at any time. If NTSI removes a photograph, it will stop future public display of the image, subject to ordinary caching and backup limitations. Removal does not require deletion of non-image scientific measurements, aggregate information, audit records, or other records NTSI may lawfully retain that no longer publicly display the photograph.

What not to submit

Photos focused on identifiable people, license plates, or private property interiors. Anything you don’t have the right to share. Anything unrelated to the station’s view.

Safety

Field stations are mounted on fences above rock and water. Stay on the designated viewing side of the fence. Do not climb, cross, or lean over the fence to take a photo. You are responsible for your own safety at the site.

What the data is and isn't

NTSI provides this information for educational, scientific, environmental-monitoring, and community purposes. Observations and environmental data may be delayed, incomplete, provisional, inaccurate, or later revised. They are not intended for navigation, flood or emergency warning, engineering, surveying, property-boundary determination, or other safety-critical decisions. Consult the appropriate official source when current or authoritative information is required. Lake-level data comes from the U.S. Geological Survey and weather data from Open-Meteo; NTSI does not generate that data.

No warranty

The site and its information are provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE,” to the extent permitted by law.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, NTSI and its members and volunteers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss arising from reliance on the site or its environmental information. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that applicable law does not allow to be limited.

Attribution

Weather data by Open-Meteo, licensed CC BY 4.0. Lake-level data from the U.S. Geological Survey.

Changes

These terms carry a version identifier. If they change, the new version applies to photos uploaded after the change; earlier uploads keep the terms they were made under.
If you believe a photograph on this site infringes your copyright, email copyright@ntxshoreline.org with a link to the photograph, a description of your work, and how to reach you. We review every notice and remove material when appropriate.
